ELIXIR-CONVERGE FAIR Hackathon on June 29th 2022
The FAIR Office Austria will take part in the FAIR Hackathon end of June 2022. We are looking for topical experts who can help us in creating lesson plans for life sciences research organizations to advance their data stewards’ and researchers’ FAIR skills.
Aim
In this hackathon, the aim is to create lesson plans to help life sciences research organizations to advance their data stewards’ and researchers’ FAIR skills. We combine efforts to create lesson plans to facilitate trainers on implementing the FAIR Principles in practice: How do you go/do FAIR? These lesson plans will include links to already existing materials (e.g., knowledge clips, guidelines etc.) that organizations may implement in their training programs, but also show the ‘gap’ between material that is already available and material that needs to be developed.
Background
In this hackathon, the aim is furthermore to build upon the lesson plans (Appendix F) created during the FAIRsFAIR hackathon and published in the “D7.4 How to be FAIR with your data. A teaching and training handbook for higher education institutions”.
Target group
Everyone willing to work on joint lesson plans on how to implement FAIR data in the life sciences (trainers, data stewards & researchers).
Practicalities
The hackathon takes place on June 29th, 2022 and will be a kick off for the co-creation of lesson plans related to FAIR (meta)data. We’ll start together, break out in smaller subgroups to divide tasks and start ‘hacking’ a lesson template, after which we conclude the first hackathon day and discuss next steps together. After the hackathon, smaller subgroups are encouraged to come together to finish the lesson plans (e.g., with input from others not available at the hackathon). After summer break, there will be a ‘closing’ hackathon, where we briefly discuss the created lesson plans and determine next steps.
How to participate?
Read the program and register for the hackathon via this form. Add your name to a potential topic. Help us find experts by spreading the announcement in your organization.
