Dr. Thomas Wallnig, Associate Professor and PI at the University of Vienna
I am a historian interested in early modern correspondence data – full text and metadata alike. During the past decade, I have been the PI of several related projects at the University of Vienna, but it was only through my involvement in the broader European research ecosystem (in my role as co-chair of a COST Action) that I fully realized the potential of data sharing in the humanities. There will never be the one all-encompassing database of letters, but rather a number of data hubs with well-curated interoperable resources. As a whole, they will form the basis for a bigger picture of the modern communication revolution. With regard to my data, Phaidra offers what I need: The sustainability of an institutional repository following the FAIR principles, along with the attention necessary to design custom solutions needed for my field of study.
